There are more than 1,700 positions available at DPWI Vacancies at the moment. The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is one of the ministries of the South African government. It is responsible for providing accommodation and property management services to all the other ministries of the South African government.

The Property Management Trading Entity, within the Department of Public Works ensures the effective management of the state’s immovable assets to contribute towards economic and social development and transformation of the built environment.

Overview

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is contributing to the job creation pronounced by the Head of the State under Presidential Employment Stimulus Packages. The department invites suitably qualified citizens to apply for DPWI vacancies available across the nation.

The opportunities will be localised following the District Development Model. Participants will gain varied technical skills and competencies. All the opportunities are for five months.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for opportunities applicants must be South African citizens aged between 18 to 35 years, no work experience is required. Supervisor’s opportunities all South African citizens over the age of 18 years with working experience as stated on each Programme are suitable to apply.

National Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines:

  • Water Care
  • Water Management
  • Electrical Engineering

2. Water Treatment Plants Programme

National Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines:

  • Water Care

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Environmental Management or relevant qualification

3. Water Treatment Plants Programme – Supervisors

National Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines:

  • Water Care
  • Water Management
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Environmental Management

Other requirements include:

  • 2-3 years of relevant working experience
  • Minimum Class IV process controller certificate
  • Proven experience in wastewater process control and management
  • Experienced in supervision/management of people, plant, and processes
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) and very good reporting skills
  • Mechanical and analytical aptitude
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Punctuality and attention to detail

4. Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme

National Diploma, National N Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Building Science
  • Construction Project Management
  • Construction Management
  • Civil Engineering

5. Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme – Professionals

  • Qualifications B Eng./ BSC (Eng.) in Civil / Structural Engineering
  • 10 years of work experience in engineering experience required as a registered professional within the specified discipline
  • Valid driver’s License
  • Active registration with the relevant statutory councils a professional

6. Facilities Management Programme -Technical Workshops

National N-Diploma in any of the following disciplines:

  • Electrical
  • Mechanical (Fitter &Turner)
  • Plumbing
  • Carpentry
  • Painting
  • Bricklaying
  • Locksmith

7. Facilities Management – Technical Workshops Programme – Supervisors

National N-Diploma in any of the following disciplines:

  • Electrical
  • Mechanical (Fitter &Turner)
  • Plumbing
  • Carpentry (also cabinet making)
  • Painting

  • Locksmith

Other requirements include:

  • Trade certificate
  • 5 years of relevant experience post-Trade Test Certification

  • Knowledge of working with equipment, tools, and material

8. Facilities Management Programme – Condition Assessments

Built Environment degree (B Eng./ BSC (Eng.) or relevant qualification in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying & Architecture.

9. Facilities Management Programme – Condition Assessments – Supervisors

Built Environment degree, National Diploma in Built Environment or relevant qualification (Building Science, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture), with 5 years of relevant work experience and valid driver’s license.

10. Facilities Management (Condition Assessment) Programme – Professionals

Built Environment degree (B Eng./ BSC (Eng.) or relevant qualification in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying with 10 years of relevant work experience, valid driver’s license, active registration with the relevant statutory councils a professional.

11. Facilities Management (Technical Call Centre) Programme

National Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

12. Facilities Management (Technical Support) Programme

National Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

Applications should be submitted on a Z83 form, obtainable from any Public Service Department, and must be accompanied by a comprehensive CV, certified copies of qualifications, identification document, and proof of residence. Appointments of successful applicants are subject to verification of qualifications and security clearance.
